Laptop To TV Connection

December 1st, 2009 by bsmilin

You guys who came over to watch the ultimate game last night between the New Orleans Saints and the Patriots had the privilege of watching this on my awesome new LCD TV.

It’s a privilege that I have every week :)   and you guys know that you are welcome anytime.

Well, today, I will give you another bonus.  Since I am working from home today, I am not really going to work too hard (a few too many beers for MNF last night).

What I want to do is take my new LCD TV and connect TV to pc so that I can have a bigger screen for my laptop.  As I showed a few of you guys last night, I got this incredible new ASUS laptop that has 12 hours of battery life and truly rules.  It has already been chosen as the best Christmas laptop and this is probably for its extended battery life.  After all, most laptops contain the same insides so it’s really the battery life that one needs to investigate.

So, as I was looking for how to connect up my ASUS laptop to my LCD TV, and thus have a huge computer monitor, I came across someone who was Considering the New ASUS Laptop and asking the same questions that I was.

How do I connect this thing to my TV?

Well, fortunately, I have discovered the ultimate secret that makes the ASUS even better.

Most laptops do not have an HDMI connection, which means you have to achieve this connection with VGA or DVI, neither of which carries sound.

However, the ASUS does have an HDMI connection and this made the connection to my LCD a snap.  I plugged it in and switched my screen display to show both the laptop monitor and the LCD.

Then I set up a portable workstation in front of the TV and I am truly the KING.

This set my friends truly makes me B Smiling.

Now, I suppose I better get back to work :)
